Calm & Intuition — Sacred Space
Amethyst
A violet variety of quartz (SiO₂, Mohs 7), Amethyst is traditionally held as a stone of calm, intuition, spiritual awareness, and energetic protection.
Set Amethyst beside your bed or in a small sacred space. For five to ten minutes, breathe slowly with the stone in your palm; let attention rest at brow and crown, and notice what becomes quieter.
Read the crystal story
Amethyst takes its name from the Greek amethystos, meaning “not intoxicated.” Its violet color belongs to quartz, silicon dioxide (SiO₂), with a Mohs hardness of 7—a durable companion for everyday ritual.
In crystal traditions it is associated with Ajna, the Third Eye, and Sahasrara, the Crown: places of inner seeing, spiritual awareness, and a calm relationship with intuition. It is often welcomed into evening rituals and sleep preparation as a visual cue to soften the day’s noise.
To tend your stone, try sound, a little moonlight, and clear intention. Let a bell, singing bowl, or gentle tone pass over it; place it where moonlight can reach it, then name what you are ready to release. There is no performance to get right—attention is the charge.
Begin with five to ten minutes. Sit comfortably, hold or place the Amethyst nearby, follow an easy exhale, and return to the feeling of space at the brow and crown. To make a sacred space, pair it with a candle, journal, or a small cloth and keep the arrangement simple enough to revisit.
